Unpopular opinion: handing out a vanity coupon code trains viewers to leave YouTube, open a new tab, and type the code in manually — bypassing your tracked affiliate link entirely. You did the selling; the network ate the attribution.
Use a code that's baked into the link, or a link that auto-applies the discount. Never make the buyer choose between your code and your cookie.
