Amazon SEO terms that get mixed up and lead to bad listing decisions
Indexing means Amazon can store and retrieve a keyword for your ASIN. It does not mean the listing ranks well. An ASIN is the product page ID; everything you optimize lives on that page or under its parent-child structure.
Session percentage is the share of sessions that ended in a purchase. It is a conversion signal, not a traffic metric. TACoS compares ad spend to total sales, so it helps you see whether ads are lifting the whole listing or only buying isolated orders.
Relevancy is Amazon’s match between the search term, the product data, and shopper behavior. Title, bullets, backend terms, and reviews all feed it. Listing variation is one parent with multiple child ASINs; use it to keep related options together, not to stuff weak products into one page.
If a keyword is indexed but the page does not convert, the problem is usually relevancy or offer quality, not indexing. Track the glossary in this order: ASIN structure, indexing, conversion, then TACoS.
