The 4-tab audit that found 11,000 invisible words
An ecommerce client swore their product pages were "fully optimized." Google saw 60% less text than humans did. Here's the diff playbook I ran in 8 minutes that proved it.
— Open the page, View Source, Ctrl+F your main H1 copy. Not there? Client-side rendered.
— Right-click, Inspect, copy the rendered <body> outerHTML into a file A.
— Paste raw View Source into file B. Run a word count on each.
— File B had 4,100 words. File A had 15,200. The gap was reviews, specs, FAQ — all hydrated in JS.
The reveal: their entire "SEO content block" loaded after hydration, so the crawled HTML was a skeleton. Turns out the dev team A/B-tested a lazy mount and never reverted it.
We moved the spec table and FAQ into the server payload. No design change, same pixels.
Result: indexed word count per URL went 4.1k → 14.8k, and pages ranking in top 20 climbed from 19% to 41% of the catalog in 7 weeks.
