Heard this week: more managed hosts are bundling a proprietary edge cache and quietly making it non-optional, which sounds like a perk until you need to bypass it.
The catch a source tells us about: when the host owns the edge layer, debugging cache behavior on dynamic routes becomes their black box, not yours. Headache shows up on logged-in pages, cart flows, and anything personalized. Support's first answer is always 'clear the cache', which solves nothing.
Unconfirmed how many hosts have removed the opt-out, but the trend line is one direction.
Watch this: test whether you can fully disable the bundled cache from your control panel today. If you can't, you've outsourced more than you think.
