Open collaboration or targeted plan? Use this filter before accepting a commission offer
An open collaboration is easy to join, but the rate may reflect the seller’s standard terms rather than your value. A targeted plan can be stronger when it includes a clear product fit, a higher commission, sample access, or support for content that matches your audience.
Check five points before saying yes:
— Commission basis: sale value, net revenue, or a fixed amount after deductions?
— Attribution: how long does the referral remain credited to you?
— Product proof: reviews, returns, delivery reliability, and repeat demand.
— Creative freedom: can you test different hooks, formats, and angles?
— Negotiation room: can the seller improve terms after you show qualified traffic?
Accept an open offer when the product already fits your showcase and the terms are transparent. Prefer a targeted plan when it removes a real constraint or rewards the work needed to create better content. A higher percentage alone is not enough if conversion, attribution, or fulfillment is weak.
Start with the offer that is easiest to measure, not the one with the most attractive headline rate. Track clicks, orders, cancellations, and earnings per piece of content before expanding the partnership.
