Small catalogs still need monthly SEO hygiene, or rankings drift quietly
For a small Amazon catalog, maintenance is not about rewrites. It is about keeping every ASIN aligned with how shoppers search and how Amazon indexes. Once a month, check four things: title relevance, bullet coverage, backend search terms, and variation consistency. If one product starts pulling a different keyword set, fix the mismatch before it spreads.
Review the title first. Remove duplicated phrases, move the main keyword closer to the front if it fits naturally, and make sure the product type is obvious. Then scan bullets for missing modifiers: size, material, use case, audience, and compatibility. Bullets should support the title, not repeat it word for word.
Next, inspect backend terms. Replace expired or redundant words with gaps you are not covering in visible copy. Use the space for alternate names, common misspellings, and buyer intent phrases that do not belong in the front end. Keep the wording clean; stuffing similar terms wastes index space.
Finish with a simple ranking check: compare the keywords each ASIN actually indexes for against the keywords you want it to own. If a listing is drifting, update one element at a time and give it room to settle. A small catalog wins by consistency, not constant editing.
