Client blasted 150 links at a 400-word doorway page in 10 days. It tanked. Everyone screamed "velocity penalty."
We rebuilt the page to 2,400 words with real data, kept the SAME link profile, added zero new links. It recovered to page 1 in five weeks.
The links were never the problem. Google won't keep a useless page up no matter how you pace the links.
