Q: Everyone says 'optimize for entities, not keywords.' What does that mean concretely?

Short answer: an entity is a thing search engines recognize as a distinct concept (a person, product, place, or defined idea) with its own identity, not just a string of letters. Optimizing for entities means making sure every important concept on your page is named, defined, and connected to its related concepts, so the engine can place your page on its map of the topic.

Concretely, that's three habits: name the entity explicitly (don't rely on 'it' and 'this tool'), define it once in plain language, and mention the entities that naturally co-occur with it.

In practice: if your page is about 'attribution modeling,' it should also reference last-click, multi-touch, and conversion windows. Those co-mentions tell the engine you actually cover the concept, not just the phrase.

Got an entity you're unsure about? Send it in.
