Splitting mobile and desktop layouts (do this)
One layout for both is leaving money on the table. My split build:
— Desktop: sticky 300x600 rail + 2 in-content. Big screen, more inventory
— Mobile: anchor + 2 in-content max, NO sidebar
— Use display:none responsive wrappers, not just resize — don't load hidden units
— Check both with the device toolbar AND a real phone
— Compare mobile RPM vs desktop RPM separately, they're different games
70% of my traffic is mobile and it earns half the RPM. Treating them the same was dumb.
