Test your postback before traffic: catch broken tokens, URLs and statuses with dummy events

A postback can look correct in a tracker and still fail at the network. Test the full path before buying traffic: create a dummy click ID, fire a test conversion, then confirm the request reaches the endpoint and the network accepts it.

Check three things first:
— The click ID is preserved from click to conversion.
— Every required parameter is mapped to the correct value, not a placeholder.
— The endpoint returns the status your tracker expects, usually a successful 2xx response.

For a direct test, send a controlled request with curl. Use a test ID and replace the URL and parameter names with your own:

The response headers and body show whether the endpoint is reachable, while the server log confirms what was actually received. Check timestamps, query parameters, HTTP status, and any rejection message. Then verify that the dummy conversion appears once in both systems; duplicates usually point to retries or repeated firing.

Do not stop at a 200 response. Match the click ID, conversion status, and event count on both sides. Remove test records or label them clearly before launching real traffic.
