Playbook: a content-refresh cadence that survives updates
Random 'updated date' changes don't help. A real refresh protocol:
— Step 1: Prioritize pages by impressions-but-falling-position in GSC — these are decaying, not dead.
— Step 2: Refresh substance, not just the date — Google has repeatedly warned against fake freshness timestamps.
— Step 3: Add genuinely new info: a new data point, a changed recommendation, a fresh example.
— Step 4: Update internal links from newer pages to refreshed ones.
— Step 5: Re-submit via URL Inspection only for material changes, not cosmetic ones.
Quarterly beats constant tinkering — over-editing destabilizes your own baseline.
