Killing the 30-second retention cliff
Word is most channels lose half their audience in the same spot and never look. A retention editor's fix sequence:
—
Open the audience-retention graph and find the first sharp drop — it's almost always the intro.
—
Cut everything before your first real payload. No logo, no 'hey guys'.
—
Re-watch the second dip; it's usually a tangent — tighten or remove it.
—
Add a verbal 'open loop' right before the cliff: tease what's coming in 20 seconds.
Confidence: high. This is just reading your own graph. For your channel, fixing the first cliff lifts the whole video because the algorithm rewards the survivors.
