Playbook: catch an unconfirmed update before anyone names it
Google ships dozens of changes Google never announces. Your early-warning system:
— Step 1: Watch three trackers daily — Mozcast, Semrush Sensor, Advanced Web Rankings — and treat agreement as signal.
— Step 2: Monitor the WebmasterWorld and r/SEO 'volatility' threads — practitioners report shakes before tools confirm.
— Step 3: Keep a saved GSC comparison (last 3 days vs prior 3) you check each morning.
— Step 4: Track a basket of competitor URLs — if they move together, it's systemic.
— Step 5: Log the date even if Google never confirms — you'll need it for later correlation.
Unconfirmed doesn't mean unreal; it means undocumented.
One to bookmark: Mozcast — the longest-running daily volatility tracker, useful as a historical baseline.
