Turn your false-security snapshots into actual backups in 6 steps
Snapshots live on the same storage as prod. One array failure kills both. Fix:
— List every snapshot, note that it shares the production disk
— Pick your retention, snapshots are not archives, they expire fast
— Export at least one snapshot OFF the array, weekly minimum
— Send that export to different hardware in a different region
— Verify the export restores standalone, no link to the source volume
— Document that snapshots are speed, exports are survival
