Checklist: publishing the same post to Bluesky and Threads the right way
Tested Buffer's dual-channel publish on a real account for 10 days. The platforms reward opposite things.
— Write Bluesky-first. Its 300-char limit forces tightness; pad up for Threads' 500, never the reverse.
— Strip Threads-style line-break spacing for Bluesky. It renders those as ugly gaps.
— Handle links per platform: Bluesky needs a manual facet/embed card, Threads auto-unfurls. A naive cross-post breaks the Bluesky card.
— Hashtags work on Bluesky, do almost nothing on Threads. Don't mirror them.
— Post to Bluesky 5-10 min earlier; its feed is chronological and rewards being early.
Buffer's standout is genuine separate channel composers. Free tier handles two channels. Annoying limit: no Bluesky analytics inside Buffer yet, so you're blind on that side.
Verdict: Worth it, but treat them as two posts wearing the same shirt.
