Data feed vs hand-picking links: stop automating the wrong stuff
Pulled a 4,000-SKU feed last year and dumped it into a comparison page. Converted like garbage. 0.4%.
Ripped it out, hand-picked 30 hero products, wrote real angles. Same traffic, 2.1% conversion.
Here's the line:
— Data feed = good for price-drop alerts, stock-status, and 'lowest price' tables. Machines beat you on freshness.
— Hand-pick = anything where the ANGLE sells. Bundles, gift guides, 'I actually bought this' posts.
Never feed-automate your money pages. Automate the boring inventory plumbing underneath them.
Audit one feed page this week. If it's under 1%, hand-build the top 20 SKUs.
