You do not need a finance team. You need one routine, done at the same point every period, in the same order.
— Export their reporting for the closed period. Export yours. Same range, same time zone, stated explicitly.
— Compare totals. Write the gap next to last period's gap. The trend matters more than the value.
— Break the gap down by campaign or placement. Concentrated in one place means a technical problem. Spread evenly means a counting difference.
— Raise anything unexplained inside the dispute window in the contract. After the window closes you are asking for a favour.
— Update the ageing list: what is owed, by whom, since when.
— Reconcile money actually received against invoices issued, not against reports.
An hour per period. It is the cheapest fraud detection and forecasting you will ever run, and it is the thing everybody skips.
