Ahrefs shows you a backlink-growth chart and arbitrageurs panic at the spike. But Ahrefs' "new links" graph is a CRAWL artifact — it batches discoveries, so 30 links found Tuesday looks like a Tuesday burst even if they trickled in over a month.

Google already knew about most of them, gradually.

The only velocity that matters is when Googlebot actually re-crawls and re-evaluates — and that signal lives in GSC crawl stats, not a third-party tool's discovery date.
