Self-hosted tracker vs cloud tracker: the crypto-offer angle
Reportedly two mid-size crypto media buyers got their cloud-tracker accounts frozen last quarter after the SaaS flagged "high-risk verticals." A manager at one network told us this is the quiet reason crypto teams over a certain spend always self-host.
The tradeoff, plainly —
— Cloud (hosted) tracker: fast setup, someone else patches it, but you're a tenant. Crypto/iGaming clauses in their ToS can vanish your data overnight.
— Self-hosted on your own VPS: nobody can deplatform your tracking, full log access for fraud disputes, but you eat the DevOps and downtime.
Rule of thumb we keep hearing: under ~$5k/day, cloud is fine; above that, the deplatform risk on crypto offers is bigger than the server cost. Watch this.
