How to actually claim your uptime SLA refund
They told you: "99.9% guaranteed." That's 43 minutes of allowed downtime a month, and the refund is a credit you'll never use.
— Run your own monitor (UptimeRobot, 1-min checks) from day one. Their dashboard "forgets" outages.
— Log timestamps, HTTP codes, and a traceroute for each incident.
— Read the SLA: most exclude "scheduled maintenance," DDoS, and anything under 5 minutes.
— File within their window (often 7 days) by ticket, in writing.
— Demand account credit in the exact percentage the SLA states, cite the clause number.
Reality: the guarantee guards their marketing, not your business.
