The 45-day head start that saved a wreath maker's holiday season
A wreath maker used to post her Christmas pins in December — right when everyone else did, and far too late. Her holiday traffic always peaked the week sales ended.
One year she ran a runway plan:
— Counted back 45 days from the buying peak (Pinterest searches lead purchases by roughly six weeks)
— Published fall wreaths October 1, winter wreaths November 1
— Re-pinned last year's best holiday pin first, not a brand-new one, to ride its existing history
By the time competitors started, her pins had already been ranking for a month.
Her December outbound clicks went from 1,200 the prior year to 4,100, and the traffic arrived in late November when she still had stock to sell.
Takeaway: Pinterest seasons start when people plan, not when they buy. Publish 45 days early and let your pins age into the ranking.
