A/B split or before/after to compare two offers?
Q: I want to compare two offers. Is it fine to run one this week and one next week, or do I need a true split?
A: Before/after lies more often than it tells the truth. Use a real split.
— Running offer A this week and offer B next week means weather, news, payday cycles, and ad-platform mood all change underneath you. You can't tell the offer from the week.
— A true A/B sends the same traffic, in the same window, split evenly between both offers. Now the only difference is the offer, which is the whole point.
— Only fall back to before/after when your volume is too small to split meaningfully, and even then treat the result as a hint, not proof.
Short version: split test for a real answer, before/after only as a weak hint.
