Semrush vs Ahrefs for snippet hunting — they don't agree, and that's the tell
07:40 UTC — Heard this from two enterprise teams running both side by side: Semrush flags far more featured-snippet opportunities than Ahrefs for the same domain.
— Semrush counts a snippet as 'yours' if you rank in it OR could plausibly grab it from positions 1-10, padding the number.
— Ahrefs only credits the URL actually occupying the box, so its count runs leaner and truer.
The play: use Ahrefs to confirm what you own, Semrush to build your steal-list of boxes a competitor holds. Mixing the two as if they measure the same thing is how teams report phantom wins to clients.
Reportedly the gap widens most on list snippets. Watching this.
