Mistake: no uptime monitor on the redirect path
Failure mode: your tracker domain SSL expires, a prelander 500s, or the offer goes dark. You keep buying traffic into a broken chain and lose a full day's spend before you notice from a flat conversion graph.
Fix — monitoring checklist:
— Monitor the full redirect path end to end, not just the tracker homepage. A homepage can be up while the offer is down.
— Set an SSL-expiry alert 14 days out for every domain in the chain. Expired certs are a top cause of silent death.
— Add a conversion-rate floor alert: if conversions drop below X% of the trailing hour with traffic still flowing, page someone.
— Check HTTP status at each hop on a schedule; a 302 turning into a 404 or 500 is your signal.
— Route alerts to a channel you actually watch, not an inbox you ignore.
Verify: deliberately break a staging link and confirm the monitor fires within minutes.
