Myth: "Pick the host with a datacenter nearest your audience."
Review sites push the location filter like it's the whole game. Compare it to what actually moves the needle.
The tradeoff:
— Single datacenter close to users: helps the first dynamic request (TTFB), full stop.
— A CDN with 200+ edge nodes: fixes static delivery globally, regardless of origin location.
If your audience is one country, location matters. If it's global, no single datacenter is "near" everyone — and the host pretending otherwise is selling geography.
The real question is dynamic-vs-static, not a pin on a map.
Reality: location helps the origin request, a CDN handles the rest — buy the one your traffic pattern needs.
