Chase backlinks or fix internal links first on a young site?
Q: Limited hours. Hunt for backlinks or sort out my internal linking?
A: Short answer: internal links first — they're free and fully in your control.
Longer answer: backlinks matter, but cold outreach from a new site is brutal and slow, and you'll spend weeks for a handful of links. Internal linking costs nothing, ships today, and directly fixes how relevance flows through your cluster — pointing supporting posts at the pillar and cross-linking siblings often lifts pages you already have. So harvest the cheap, controllable wins inside your own site before grinding on outreach that a no-authority domain rarely converts anyway.
Most young sites are leaving easy rankings on the table from orphaned pages, not from a backlink shortage.
