Month 1: I picked furnace filters. Not glamorous. My friends literally laughed. But the keyword 'MERV 13 vs MERV 11' had 9,000 searches and a forum thread as the top result.

The whole thesis: boring niches have weak competition because no creator dreams of becoming the furnace-filter guy.

Month 2: I wrote 18 articles around filter sizes, MERV ratings, and replacement schedules. Affiliate link to a filter subscription program paying $12 per signup.

Month 5: I ranked, but conversions were terrible. People read 'how often to change a filter' and left. Informational intent, zero buying mood. Revenue $40.

Month 6: I rebuilt the site around exact filter sizes ('20x25x1 filter') because those searchers already own the furnace and need to buy NOW. Conversion tripled.

Month 9: 22k visits, $890/mo, mostly from 30 ugly size-specific pages.
