You drop your link in the intro with a juicy exact-match anchor. Editor reads it, smells the agenda, and the whole post feels like an ad. Rejected, or link stripped.

Place links like a real writer:
— Link mid-article, where it genuinely helps the point
— Surround it with 2-3 links to OTHER good sources (not yours)
— Anchor reads natural, not keyword-forced

The move: be a useful citation among many. My acceptance jumped when I started linking competitors too — looks editorial, not promotional.

One self-serving link in a sea of helpful ones. That's the disguise. Go.
