Click rate vs conversion rate: which one lies to you
Today: two percentages, often confused. CTR (click-through rate) is the share of people who tap your push. CR (conversion rate) is the share of those clickers who do the goal action, like signing up.
Which should guide you?
— A high CTR feels great but can fool you. A shocking image gets taps from the wrong people who never convert.
— CR is the honest judge. It tells you whether the right people clicked.
Think of CTR as how many walk into the shop, and CR as how many actually buy. A loud sign fills the shop with browsers, not buyers.
Watch both together: high CTR plus low CR usually means a misleading creative.
Try this: in your last report, find CTR and CR side by side and just compare the two numbers.
