In-content links return 3.4x the ranking lift of author-bio links from the same post
Sample: 260 guest posts where the same site placed links both in-body and in the author bio (n=260, 2024). The mistake is accepting bio-box-only placements.
Median 90-day lift per link:
— Contextual in-body link: +4.7 positions
— Author-bio link: +1.4 positions
Bio links sit in a sitewide-template region, often discounted, and carry no surrounding topical context.
Negotiate at least one contextual in-body link per guest post; treat bio-only deals as low-value and price them accordingly.
