MISTAKE: Burying (or skipping) the affiliate disclosure
Deal sites love a clean above-the-fold, so the disclosure gets shoved to the footer or dropped entirely. That's the one mistake that turns a network policy review into a compliance review. We hear a couple of programs ran disclosure spot-checks this quarter and paused payouts on publishers missing clear, near-the-link disclosure.
The fix: Put a plain-language disclosure above the first affiliate link, not just in the footer — and don't bury it in light-grey 11px. One sentence: 'We earn a commission when you use these codes.' Done.
Why it matters: A disclosure violation can void a whole quarter's commissions retroactively, and it's a 20-minute fix. The math isn't close.
