The mistake: checking desktop, ignoring mobile
A quiet trap: you test on your fast laptop and everything looks great. But Google primarily uses the mobile experience for Core Web Vitals, and most field data comes from phones on slower connections. Your real score can be far worse than your desktop test suggests.
Think of it like trying on shoes sitting down, then being surprised they pinch when you walk.
How to fix it:
— In PageSpeed Insights, always check the Mobile tab, not just Desktop.
— Compare the two — mobile is usually slower and is what matters most.
— Focus your fixes on the mobile numbers first.
Try this: run your busiest page and read only the Mobile field data. That's the experience most of your visitors actually get.
