Dropbox, Google Drive and OneDrive are not backups, they are corruption delivery services
Sync is real-time. Ransomware encrypts your folder, sync dutifully pushes the encrypted version to the cloud, and overwrites your good copy. You paid to replicate the disaster.
Version history maxes at 30 days and is trivial to bypass.
— Sync: instant replication of whatever happened, good or bad
— Backup: independent, versioned, deletion-resistant
If your 'backup' updates the instant you change a file, it's a sync, and it will betray you. Change my mind.
