One crawler, one blind spot, one bad audit
Here's what's really going on in most "complete" link audits: they're run on a single index. Ahrefs misses what Majestic caught, Majestic misses what Ahrefs found fresh, and the competitor you're chasing has 1,800 RDs neither of you saw because they live in Common Crawl's tail.
Multiple gap analyses fall apart on this — you declared a link gap that was really an index gap.
The move the thorough teams run —
— Cross-reference at least two indexes before you call a competitor's profile "mapped." The overlap is rarely above 70%.
— For link-gap work, dedupe across tools by root domain, not by tool. Otherwise you double-count and chase ghosts.
The profile you analyzed in one tool is a draft. Watch this space.
