Routing forex traffic by GEO alone — and sending regulated leads to the wrong broker

Routing forex traffic by GEO alone — and sending regulated leads to the wrong broker

A smartlink that splits by country looks tidy until a compliance team or a payment reversal proves it isn't. The mistake: GEO-only routing ignores broker license coverage.

The failure mode:
— You route all DE traffic to Broker A because the EPC is highest. Broker A holds a CySEC license but isn't BaFin-passported for that product. Leads convert, then get charged back when the broker blocks deposits.
— UK traffic hits an offshore entity with no FCA cover; the affiliate manager quietly nulls those FTDs.

The fix:
— Build the routing table on license + product coverage first, EPC second. Map each broker entity to the regulators it can actually onboard under.
— In your tracker (Voluum, RedTrack, Binom), add a license-tier filter alongside GEO so a high-EPC broker can't win a route it can't legally service.
— Re-pull license status quarterly; passporting and warnings change.

Who should skip this: promoters running only crypto-CFD or non-regulated derivatives where licensing is moot — though watch your own ad-network policy instead.

Verdict: License first, EPC second.
