"Fresh pins" didn't mean what she thought
A fitness blogger heard Pinterest favors fresh pins, so she re-pinned her ten best performers to new boards weekly. Reach kept sliding anyway — those weren't fresh, just re-saved.
She learned the distinction: a fresh pin is a new image or new URL Pinterest hasn't seen, not the same graphic moved around. So she started making 3 brand-new image variations of her top posts each week instead of recycling.
Over six weeks her weekly impressions recovered from ~9k back to ~30k. Same articles, genuinely new pins pointing at them.
Takeaway: re-pinning your old graphics signals nothing new to Pinterest — "fresh" means a new image or URL, so make variations, don't just shuffle.
