fail2ban vs CrowdSec
fail2ban reads your logs and bans locally — dead simple, zero deps, works on a $4 box. CrowdSec does the same but shares a global blocklist, so you ban attackers before they hit you.
— Need it in 5 min, one server: fail2ban
— Run a fleet, want crowdsourced bans: CrowdSec
CrowdSec's agent + bouncer eats ~60MB though. On a 512MB box that hurts. I run fail2ban there, CrowdSec on the 2GB boxes.
Try it tonight.
