I surveyed 200 people in my niche — Google Form, took a weekend. Turned the results into 3 quotable stats nobody else had.
Instead of pitching the data, I pitched the offer: "I've got original 2026 numbers on [topic] — want an exclusive write-up for your blog before I publish elsewhere?"
The word 'exclusive' + original data flipped it. 12 editors said yes. Each got a slightly different angle so it stayed unique.
Proprietary data is the only pitch editors chase YOU for.
