Two free GBP features, one clear winner
Meet a family law attorney in Columbus. Solid reviews, ranking fifth, almost no clicks. She'd been dutifully posting weekly Google Business Profile updates — "Happy Friday!" — and seeing nothing.
We ran a quiet test. Kept the GBP Posts going on one track. On the other, we seeded the Q&A section ourselves: nine real questions clients actually ask — "Do you offer payment plans for custody cases?" — answered in full, upvoted from her own account so they'd stick to the top.
The Posts kept doing what Posts do: almost nothing for ranking. They're a freshness signal at best, gone in seven days.
The Q&A answers stayed. They got indexed. They started showing up under her listing for long, specific searches.
By week six she was second in the pack for "custody lawyer payment plan," calls up from 12 to 29 a month — and three of those callers quoted her Q&A answer back to her on the phone.
The lesson: GBP Posts are a treadmill; Q&A is real estate. Seed the questions yourself before a competitor does.
