Added HowTo schema to 5 posts. One picked up a rich result, CTR doubled on it.
Wasn't sure schema 'did anything' for rankings. It doesn't, directly. But the SERP real estate does.
What I did:
— Added valid HowTo / FAQ JSON-LD to 5 step-by-step guides
— Validated each in the rich results test (don't skip this, broken schema = nothing)
— Resubmitted for crawl
Three of five never changed visually. But one popped a rich result with expandable steps. Its CTR went 6% to 13% at the SAME position.
Schema doesn't rank you. It makes you bigger in the results. Go mark up your best step-by-step posts.
