Managed WordPress "handles backups" — try getting one out
Agency on a premium managed-WP host, sold on "automatic daily backups." Client wanted to migrate off. The host's backups were restore-only, in-platform — no downloadable archive, no database export without a support escalation. To leave, the agency manually exported 14 sites by hand over 2 days.
The "backups" existed solely to keep them on the platform.
If you can't download and restore it elsewhere, it's not your backup — it's a retention feature. Change my mind.
