Case: a campaign template cut launch time from 40 minutes to 6 and killed setup errors
The baseline: a 5-buyer team launched ~60 campaigns/week by hand. Audit of 50 launches found that 9 had at least one broken setting — wrong postback, missing token, unset cap. Each broken launch wasted 1-2 days of spend before someone noticed.
The template we standardized in Voluum:
1. Built one master campaign template with the postback URL, click-ID token, cost model, and conversion cap pre-wired
2. Locked the token mapping and postback fields so a buyer couldn't fat-finger them
3. Left only the variable slots editable: offer, lander, source, geo
4. Added a pre-launch checklist that the buyer ticks before the campaign can go active
The measured before/after:
— Median launch time: 40 min → 6 min
— Broken-setup rate across the next 200 launches: 18% → under 2%
— Spend wasted on misconfigured campaigns: roughly $4,000/month → near zero
The one residual error: buyers occasionally picked the wrong geo from a long dropdown. We split the template by geo to remove the choice.
A template isn't convenience — it's error elimination at scale. Pre-wire everything that shouldn't change, lock it, expose only what should.
Save this SOP. Run this before every launch.
